Queen’s Park Day 2026

An update

Queen’s Park Day is a free, volunteer-led, not-for-profit community event that has taken place in Queen’s Park for nearly 50 years. QPARA remains committed to those principles.

At its January meeting, QPARA members discussed the position for Queen’s Park Day 2026 and authorised officers, informed by the Queen’s Park Day Committee, to continue discussions with the City of London Corporation about the arrangements for this year’s event.

These discussions reflect indications from the City that charges for holding the event may increase significantly in 2026, and the need to understand whether an arrangement can be reached that remains proportionate and sustainable for a volunteer-led community event.

Members agreed that Queen’s Park Day can only proceed on a basis that is financially responsible, proportionate, and consistent with its community-focused character. Clear decision points are needed to allow responsible planning by volunteers.

Further engagement with the City is expected ahead of its committee meeting on 3 February. QPARA will update members and the wider community once there is more clarity about next steps.
